On 6th April 2018, charter documents of the International Nongovernmen­tal Organization Volga-Caspian Commonwealth «The Great Volga Road» were signed in Moscow at the United Nations Office in Russia. The event was attended by Alexei Borisov, Chair of the Executive Committee of the World Federation of UN Associations, and Vladimir Kuznetsov, Director of the UN Information Center in Moscow. The organization’s goal is to comprehensively assist in the strengthening of international humanitarian cooperation, intercultu ral dialogue, and stability in one of the most strategically important regions of Eu rasia – the Volga-Caspian region.

International Forum “The Great Volga Road”, which is to be held in Kazan, will become an integrative gateway of cooperation in cultu re, science, education, tou rism, sport, and preservation of cultu ral heritage in the Volga-Caspian region. Academician Engel Tagirov was elected Chairman of the Board of the Commonwealth, and Professor Maksim Andreev was elected President.
